  4. This is not a final release of the Scalos update - it is a beta snapshot
  5. of the workdone so far. It has been running stable on our machines but
  6. problems may be highlighted on your own system.
  7.  
  8. This archive is NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION on any other websites, CD-ROM etc.
  9. It is exclusive to the www.scalos.co.uk website. If you downloaded this
  10. file from somewhere else, please inform us at info@scalos.co.uk

  17. Try to provide as much information about your configuration as possible
  18. - *THIS IS IMPORTANT*.
  19.  
  20. General:
  21. CPU, Graphics system, screen depth, enforcer/cyberguard hit log.
  22.  
  23. Specific:
  24. Scalos prefs such as bob system type, what you have checked in
  25. the "misc." options of the scalos prefs program etc. Anything you think
  26. could be related to your problem.
  27.  
  28. Also, provide some means for us to contact you if the
  29. bug is hard to re-create at our end also.

  32. INSTALLATION
  33. ============
  34.  
  35. Only files that have been updated since v1.2b archive are included in
  36. this archive. Copy the files in this directory to the relevant places on
  37. your system. Reboot and test away!
  38.

  44. The 'Themes' folder (and all sub-directories and files) must be copied
  45. into same folder as the Scalos exe, i.e. to your SCALOS: assign.
  46.  
  47. After installation, but before rebooting:- Run the new "Scalos Menu"
  48. preferences program. Re-save your menu prefs as it will now generate a
  49. new prefs file called "Menu13.prefs" in "envarc:scalos/". The same is
  50. also required for the new Palette prefs update, click 'Save' and a
  51. "Palette13.prefs" file will be saved in to "envarc:scalos/" directory.
  52. You may now reboot.
  53.  
  54. During use of Scalos an assign "THEME:" is automatically made to the
  55. 'scalos:themes/default/' directory. In the future this will be
  56. selectable by preferences.
  57.  
  58. Developers writing software for Scalos (modules etc.) and want to
  59. support the future iCandy support can use a new environment variable
  60. added recently. Your application should read the contents of
  61. ENV:Scalos/icandy variable. If it contains a:-
  62.  
  63.  0 then show no graphical elements in your GUI.
  64.  1 then show only images needed for functionality
  65.  2 then put everything on display for maximum looks :-)
  66.  
  67. Because there is currently no preferences to set this Scalos will
  68. *always* make the variable contain '2' for now.
  69.  
  70. Remove both the filetypes.plugin and deficons.plugin from your existing Scalos 
  71. system to avoid conflicts with the no built-in deficons support.
  72.  
  73. If you use non-English Scalos catalog, then please ensure you are using
  74. the latest language catalog from the website.
  75.  
  76. We have moved the mouse pointer 'special' icons from the ENV:Scalos/ directory.
  77. Please remove them from your installation too.  You will now find the files
  78. located in your THEME:PointerIcons/ directory.

  83. See the seperate "History" files. They are seperated into a main Scalos
  84. one, and one for the datatype sub-system.
